How we strive for Sustainability in our Research
Sustainability is not just the goal of our research: it is embedded in how we do it. We work with renewable, bio-derived precursors and favour low-impact processing techniques such as hydrothermal carbonisation and electrospinning to synthesise carbon-based materials, minimising our reliance on fossil-derived feedstocks and harsh chemical routes.
The materials we develop are designed to power a cleaner energy future, from hard carbons for sodium-ion batteries to catalysts for green hydrogen production and COâ‚‚ reduction, ensuring that both the means and the ends of our science align with a net-zero vision.
How we strive for sustainability in our Laboratory Practices
Within the lab, we strive to reduce waste, share resources across our group, and make conscious choices about the chemicals and solvents we use. We believe that responsible science starts at the bench, and we are committed to continuously improving our practices as a team. As a result, and adhering to scheme provided, the Titirici group is primed to be awarded the Leaf Gold certification which commends efforts made towards sustainable lab practice addressing various facets of lab practices ranging from IT and data management to procurement and inventory management.
