VALUED Programme Grant Workshop (02/07/24)
Many of our group members and collaborators from the VALUED Programme Grant took park in a successful and fruitful workshop. The workshop was intended to develop problem solving skills, open opportunities for collaboration as well as discussing the scientific problems we are facing. Thanks especially to Melanie Lee and Geetanjali, our project managers.
The Titirici group receives a prestigious award
We are very proud to announc that our research group was awarded the “President’s Medal for Excellent Research Team”. This exemplifies all the hard work and dedication of our research group which is led by our brilliant supervisor, Magda. Congratulations to all!
Graduation 2024
We had 6 PhD graduates this year with 3 of them able to attend the sunny graduation ceremony. Magda also received the President’s Medal for Outstanding Research Team.
More prizes for Titirici group members!
Two of our outstanding PhD graduates have been awarded prizes from their departments. Silvia Favero was awarded the 2023 Townsend Prize for outstanding original research in energy engineering from the Chemical Engineering department. Angus Pedersen was awarded the 2023 John Kilner Prize for excellence in research in materials for application in energy conversion from the Materials department. Congratulations both, very well deserved!
Fruitful Materials Postgraduate Research Day for our co-supervised students
Our co-supervised students Connor Wright and Craig Burdis attended the Materials Postgraduate Research Day at Imperial and both won prizes! Connor was awarded the second best public speaker and Craig the best Scientific content on a poster.
Huge group success at MATSUS24 conference
The Titirici group was very well represented at the annual nanoGe MATSUS24 conference in Barcelona. Great talks from Johny Guo and Mengnan Wang, a successful symposium organised by Jesús Barrio and a poster prize awarded to Helen Tyrrell, congratulations!
Congratulations to Angus Pedersen on passing his PhD viva!
Another of our outstanding PhD students have passed their viva with no corrections! That’s 3/3 of our students co-supervised with Ifan Stephens to pass with flying colours. Angus’ contribution to the Titirici group and the Imperial College London network will not end here as he continues his research as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow after being awarded the EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellowship.
Congratulations to Mengnan Wang on passing her PhD viva!
Huge congratulations to Mengnan on passing her PhD viva. Not only was she a brilliant PhD student but she was a great help to the scientific community by coordinating the Imperial College London Electrochemistry Network, amongst other significant contributions.
Great success of Titirici and Stephens group Christmas party!

It was great to see Sam’s hard work rewarded by winning a poster prize at the 1st Annual Symposium for Advanced Battery Materials.
Titirici group at Imperial Lates
We had a great time at the Imperial College Lates outreach event where we had the chance to share our exciting scientific research with members of the public, thanks to those who came along. Our exhibit was focused on how we are able to turn food waste into valuable products such as batteries to power your phone! New review paper out from the Titirici group

NanoGe conference blues!
A look back on the fantastic NanoGe conference held in sunny Torremolinos. Many of our group members gave insightful talks and presented posters to academics in the early stages of their careers as well as more experienced scientists. Keep your eye out for the numerous fruitful collaborations that materialise from last week!
Tititrici group annual hike
We completed our annual group hike in September in which we walked from Faversham to Whitstable along the beautiful coast line. Major thanks to Helen for organising!
